Januworry just ended and you are already behind on your new year's resolution to be healthier and fitter.

Well, fret not! The Kfm Crew is here once again to help you get your JaNEWbody. We spoke to nutrition and fitness coach Daniella Lagerwey for some quick and practical tips on how to stay healthy in 2020, and here’s what she had to say.

Here are my simple and achievable top 5 health tips to get you right back on track and ready to drop a few extra pant sizes, feel fabulous and make 2020 the best and most healthy year yet both mentally and physically!

Tip 1: Drink lots of water

Hydration is so important, our body needs it! When we are dehydrated our bodies will hold onto water (water retention) as soon as your body is receiving the amount of water it needs it then releases held water and next minute you have dropped 2 pant sizes and all you did was increase your water intake!

Drink between 2.5-3 litres of water each day. Keep a bottle of water next to you and sip it throughout the day. Add fresh fruit slices to your water bottle (cut up pieces of strawberries, cucumber, oranges etc…) water retention.

Tip 2: Have a good morning routine

Wake up before the rest of the world. Set your alarm to wake up at 5am. Spend time in peace and quiet for a while (just you, yourself).

Set good intentions for the day, be grateful for all you have & speak only positivity into your day ahead.

Tip 3: Get you booty up

Do some form of exercise for 30 minutes every day. Get it done first this in the morning (after your quiet time as mentioned in Tip 2. All you need to do is start somewhere, you don’t have to be a hero and run a marathon but find something that makes you happy and that you enjoy.

Tip 4: Don’t rely on motivation

That is fleeting- it comes and goes. Make a wise decision to do what you know you need to do to live a long, sustainable, healthy lifestyle and BE DISCIPLINED to follow through and commit to it. This is when you will begin to see results.

Tip 5: Eat the Rainbow

Eat more vegetables/fruits/legumes and cut down on refined and processed foods.

DELICIOUS MOROCCAN COUSCOUS & ROAST VEG SUMMER SALAD⤵️🌞 . I absolutely love cooking and creating my own recipes or adjusting & changing recipes to my taste. One thing I'm not always so good at is measuring out exact ingredients, especially for my savory dishes. I love keeping the creativity and I always find I'm adding in things here and there until it's just right and half the time I've forgotten the exact amounts. So my new year resolution is to be better at writing down everything so I can share more of my delicious dishes with you. It's been a crime all these years keeping the recipes locked up in my head! 😋 . That being said some dishes are simple and exact amounts are not make-or-break (like this recipe im about to share) All you need to do is make it to your preference and use my recipes as guidelines to your creation. . INGREDIENTS: Roast red onion Roast cherry tomatoes Roast butternut Roast red peppers Whole wheat cous cous Coriander Roast chickpeas Olives Danish Feta Salt pepper Olive oil Balsamic Garlic METHOD: • Heat oven to 180-200° • To make couscous follow directions on box & set aside. • Make your vinaigrette: olive oil, balsamic, salt & pepper, freshly chopped garlic & a dash of maple syrup (to taste). Set it aside so the garlic flavour can infuse into the dressing. • Chop butternut into small cubes, halve cherry tomatos, chop peppers into small pieces, quarter the red onions. Place on oven tray #1 seasoned with olive oil, course salt & pepper ( oven time: 30min + ) • Place chickpeas on tray #2 seasoneded with salt, pepper, olive oil, cumin, ground coriander, chilli powder.(oven time: 20min+ ) • Chopped up some coriander and set aside. • Turn your cous cous over into a big bowl/ serving dish of choice, add your roast veg, roast chickpeas, coriander, olives & break feta over the top. • Pour dressing over the top: Ready to serve .
