It's May Money Madness on Kfm 94.5 with LottoStar and while our listeners have had the chance to win money for themselves, they have also been playing to win money for a worthy cause.
This year, the beneficiary is the Peninsula School Feeding Association — an organisation that's been around for more than 60 years.
Peninsula School Feeding Association fundraising manager Charles Grey joined Kfm Mornings to chat about the important work that they do.
It's shocking to know that three out of four children in the Western Cape go to school hungry every single day.
By giving R60 to the organisation, you are feeding one child for an entire month.
What happens on the ground is that the organisation provides a set menu which is then cooked by volunteer food preparers at each school.
This takes place at roughly 170 schools and it includes breakfast such as maize meal and lunch, which could be anything from soya mince and lentils to fish and rice.
The menus are designed by a nutritionist to ensure the children are well fed and able to concentrate at school.
For most of the children, these are the only meals they get, which is quite sad.
