The Mother City never looked so good ❤️
On Sunday, 21 November runners from far and wide came together to celebrate the return of the much-loved Absa Cape Town 12K CITYRUN as they took to the streets to run Cape Town fast and flat.
The city's streets were lined with supporters, dancers and drummers cheering on 3446 runners as they painted Cape Town red in their Absa Run Your City Series Event performance T-shirts and peak caps from the start of the 12-kilometre race at Woodbridge Island, Milnerton to the finish line in the heart of Cape Town’s cosmopolitan, Long Street.
As runners approached the first waterpoint, Big Box and Die Kaapse Klopse brought all the gees and Cape Heritage to encourage participants to keep moving.
Passing Cape Town's iconic landmarks and magnificent views, live performances from while featuring lively performances from the Vawter cheerleaders, the Field Band Foundation Brass Band and Beet It Sports Marimba Band put a beat to every runner's steps as Absa, Coca-Cola and commentator, Mbulelo Thinta kept up the energy as runners celebrated the fast-approaching finish line.
The one-of-a-kind race saw Capetonians painting Cape Town red in creative costumes against the majestic backdrop of the Mother City's beloved Table Mountain.
Running through the Golden Arch of the famous DHL Golden Mile, a race favourite and an absolute vibe – runners sipped refreshments from their DHL water bottles designed to drastically reduce SUPs by 85% and to strive for a plastic-free, mass participation, road running series in the near future.
Congratulations to all the winners and runners who participated this year!
