Nicola Rowe, Brand Manager of Polyco joins Mid-Morning host Tracey Lange to chat about their mobile collection recycling service.

Launched in 2017, Packa-Ching is a mobile collection recycling service that pays people for their sorted household recyclable material through an easy cashless eWallet payment solution.

It's really teaching people that what we see as waste has value.

— Nicola Rowe, Brand Manager of Polyco

If you separate your recyclables from your ordinary household waste, you can take it to a Packa-Ching and actually earn money for it.

— Nicola Rowe, Brand Manager of Polyco

Packa-Ching currently runs in 6 areas: Thabazimbi (Limpopo), Katlehong (Gauteng), Newcastle (KZN), East London, Gqeberha and Cape Town.

The Polyco initiative has diverted over 3.2 million kg’s of waste from landfills and paid out over R2.7 million to community members in exchange for their recyclables.

They hope to get into the school space from 2022 where they'll go into schools, set up recycling infrastructure and teach children about the environmental impact of recycling.

What we really believe that schools are at the heart of communities. If we can encourage recycling behaviour in children... they can take that message home to their families and other community members.

— Nicola Rowe, Brand Manager of Polyco

Kids can then bring recyclables from home to earn money for their school
