Shelley du Plessis quit her job and took the leap — and in the height of the lockdown — to start an online broker company called Veracity Markets.

She says that it was a scary but necessary step.

Not only for personal and professional growth, but Shelley also wanted to leave her daughter a legacy and show her that being a woman in the financial trade does not mean you are limited in any way.

COVID was a curveball of note!

I resigned from my previous position at the beginning of March and the President announced the lockdown towards the end of March and I had this moment of panic, 'Have I done the right thing? Have I left my secure salary to go out on my own?'
