Had it not been for the global pandemic, Saturday, 6 March 2021, would have been KDay – Kfm 94.5’s annual one-day family, fun music festival that features some of South Africa’s hottest acts.

To commemorate this special day on the Cape calendar, as well as to celebrate live music in a safe way, Carl Wastie pulled in some favours on the multiple award-winning Kfm Top 40, to bring you Kfm Top 40 Day, where between counting down the 40 hottest hits of the week, he brought you some of his famous friends, who you love jamming to, live on Kfm 94.5, as well as live-streamed on the Kfm 94.5 Facebook page.

He had Jimmy Nevis, Craig Lucas and Amy Jones perform live in-studio, and then connected up live to Jo’burg for a performance from Jethro Tait, and then to the USA for a live performance from the act that topped the final chart of 2021 for the biggest international song of 2020… SOFI TUKKER, who’s fan-favourite, ‘Purple Hat’, claimed that top spot.

Watch your faves below!

Instead of playing the studio version of his hit single, ‘Magenta’, which is currently charting – Jimmy Nevis performed the song live on the Kfm Top 40 with Carl Wastie.

Jethro Tait performed his single, ‘Sad’, a former no.1 on the Kfm Top 40, live from his home studio in Johannesburg.

Between Jethro Tait and Craig Lucas’ back-to-back performances, Carl Wastie bubbled under their new single together, called ‘Weirdo’, which dropped the day prior (5 Mar 2021), on the Kfm Top 40.

Craig Lucas joined Carl Wastie in-studio for a heart-wrenching version of hit single, ‘Happy’, which is a former no.1 on the award-winning chart show.

Instead of playing the studio version of her hit single with Don Vino, ‘Imagine’, which is currently charting – Amy Jones performed the song live on the Kfm Top 40 with Carl Wastie. She then performed an acoustic cover of Saturday’s new no.1 from Justin Bieber, ‘Anyone’.

Live from the USA, SOFI TUKKER, who last year enjoyed two songs charting on the Kfm Top 40 with Carl Wastie – ‘Purple Hat’ and ‘House Arrest’ – the former being the no.1 international song of 2020 on SA’s favourite chart show, performed a 10-minute set featuring some of your favourites.

They also a message of love and adoration for Kfm 94.5 and the Kfm family, revealing that they regularly text with Carl.
