Many Capetonians woke up with a shudder last night following a 3.5 magnitude earthquake.

It occurred around 60 kilometres from the Cape Town shore (close to Yzerfontein).

This is not the first earthquake on the South African coast this year.

Last night's activity was a lot closer than the previous one which happened around 1000 kilometres from shore.

To get some clarity on the matter Carl Wastie turned to a specialist for answers.
