Miss South Africa, Zozibini Tunzi was crowned as the 68th Miss Universe on Sunday, 8 December 2019. She takes the title from Miss Universe 2018, Catriona Gray and, is the first Miss Universe to wear the brand-new "Power of Unity" crown worth R73 million.

The 26-year-old Eastern Cape-born beauty was among 90 contestants competing for the coveted prize and, emerged victorious ahead of Puerto Rico's Madison Anderson and Mexico's Sofía Arago in the glamourous pageant.

The three-hour show was hosted by TV and radio personality, Steve Harvey at the Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia in the United States of America. He was accompanied by actress and former beauty queen, Vanessa Lachey.

Tunzi is the second Miss South Africa to be crowned Miss Universe. She follows Margaret Gardiner, who was crowned in 1978 and Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters who was crowned in 2017.
