Today the Dis-Chem Foundation in partnership with KFM fulfilled another Random Act of Kindness when we heard about Phumla Somdaka who runs the Qingqa educare in Mfuleni, Cape Town.

Somdaka and her team take care of about 60 children between the ages 3 months and 5 years. With very little resources, they manage to create a safe environment where parents can send their children.

Ryan O’Connor spoke to Penny Stein from the Dis-Chem Foundation who says, “We understand that the costs of items are terribly expensive and children between the ages 3 months and 5 years have great needs.” For this reason, the Dis-Chem Foundation donated R60 000 towards the educare.

Somdaka was filled with joy when she got the news this morning. Ryan briefly chatted to her on the show about the educare and the work they do. She mentioned that they are in desperate need of mattresses, toiletries, educational toys, desks and chairs.
